How to split expenses with friends using Split Groups

Planning a trip or sharing a condo? Split Groups removes the awkward math. Here's how to set up a group and settle up cleanly.

🧭
1

Create a group

Open Split Groups and create a new group — name it for the trip or household (e.g. 'Baguio 2026' or 'Unit 4B').

2

Add the people

Add each friend by name. They don't need a BudgetPH account. Optionally add an email to invite BudgetPH users, or copy the share link to send to your group chat.

3

Log expenses as they happen

For each expense, pick who paid (one person or several) and how it splits — equally, by exact amounts, by percentage, or by shares. BudgetPH resolves everyone's share instantly.

4

Check the balances

The group shows each person's net balance — who's owed and who owes. It updates the moment anyone adds an expense.

5

Settle up

Open the Settle Up panel to see the minimum set of payments that clears every debt. After someone pays, tap 'Mark settled' to record it.

Frequently asked questions
